What is the rate of divorce in the USA?

I read some outrageous numbers when I check the rate of divorce in the US like 10%, 3.5% (wow) 30% 60% I am not sure how they get into these numbers. I live in NY and I lived in California and overseas. I am not touching the "overseas" subject it would be difficult to figure out, but I am asking for this country. What is the average rate of divorce in the USA? I am talking for people who have at least one divorce even if they remarried. Judging by people I see around me it must be no less than 75%. Most of the married couples in NY -who remain married- seem to me to be immigrants with more traditional family values. Thank you
